Well, if you are expecting a transformative experience that completely upends your expectations of BL novels, then it's going to disappoint.

If you go in expecting two great routes and take-what-you-get for the rest, then it might be fine. At the end of the day it's still a romance story. In the main and second routes it takes it's time to tell the story it wants to tell instead of rushing to the sex, which is much appreciated. It just didn't leave much time for the rest of the routes to say what they needed to (though, in retrospect, the last route was intentionally abrupt and jarring).

There is also a ton of growth for the MC so people bitching about how annoying he is missed the fucking point.

He's a top tier Tsundere. And, if you're into character growth, he's good for that as well in certain routes.

Can totally understand why Kawase treats him like shit though.

I wish the short story was translated, I've seen a summary floating around but it looks really cute. Madam repeats finds out about their relationship, and Minakami asks Tamamori to live together.
Also suspenders are fucking hot.
