It has nothing to do with the artist. Happened to Studio Ryokucha as well. They are dead, the artist still does stuff though, but their most recent game had nothing of the great sprite-work. Now they work at random shit for Will. Sad story.

Good sprite-work is just so rare.

Only did the prologue so far, so barely saw them. But could be. Otherwise I like Agnes.

So far I'm mostly impressed by the art and such. Sprites can be anywhere on the screen and they play around with putting them on a background to simulate a little 3d effect with different sizes and whatnot. There's also a back-view for them. I also feel like the art is just generally pretty beautiful. Maybe it's just me, but that aspect got a little worse with their newer games, though I didn't play any to see it in action. (some use emote I think)

Anyway, I like sprite usage like in this game. The 4/3 resolution really limits this, but there aren't exactly a lot of games doing pic related style things. Can't be picky.

Floating textboxes are a thing, but usually you still only have one at a time. They simply get placed where the character is.
Having more than one "box" at the same time is pretty rare. There are some older littlewitch games which use it, but they are short and feel more like manga in some way. (which is why they are short to begin with)
