"Scalpel."
Your hands tremble as you make the first incision, cutting through several inches of stitches in her upper thigh. You repeat the process at key points down her leg, doing your best to ignore the grey matter beginning to poke out.
"Tongs."
You take the offered tool and pinch a generous amount of fresh stuffing with it. Pressing it gently into the fresh cut, you begin packing it inside her. A towel is pressed against your forehead, mopping up an errant bead of sweat. Things are going smoothly. Too smoothly.
An alarm sounds. You curse.
"This has gone too long. We need to seal it up. Thread!"
You're beginning to breath heavily. The shaking of your hands is definitely noticeable now. Your partner looks at you with concern as you begin stitching up the cuts. You utter a string of words best not repeated when the thread snaps mid-stitch. The walls are closing in and you're running out of air. You jump with a clatter of tools and instruments at the hand on your shoulder.
"It's okay, you're doing fine."
You nod. Some of the tension leaves your shoulders. You're not fine, but you have a job to finish.
The last cut is carefully closed. You drop your tools and fall against the wall, but fluffy arms circle around your back and you’re pulled against something much softer.
“You did great,” your wife soothes. Her massive hands cradle and pet your head reassuringly. “I feel better already.”
You’re released. Her legs do seem much improved. Noticeably firmer and… thick. Maybe you used too much stuffing? You realize the alarm is still going.
“Don’t worry, I’ll get the oven, dear.”
She turns and walks from the room. You’re left with a great view of her revitalized lower half swaying temptingly as she departs.
No, just the right amount.
But perhaps you won’t try to DiY again.
