>nor are you projecting your own cultural mores, as twisted and corrupted as they may be, onto a different standard of beauty and femininity.
Is the joke literally that you are putting your values onto Gensokyo (which is not feudal japan, at all)? What. Fucking stupid, you're literally just projecting and saying "she says ze that's for BOYS" and ignoring literally every fact I listed. You probably think she's a ladykiller lesbian too, or something.

>I'd be with you if she didn't believe danmaku is about power like Mokou does.
As for this it doesn't really matter much. In our world, in the first place, danmaku wouldn't be something girls would be into. However according to canon danmaku play is considered feminine as hell. If you squint, it's understandable. Marisa is a "love and stars" magician, for instance, and in general it's about gracefully moving and about making intricate patterns, but, really, it's also about beating people up. In our world, that isn't feminine, but in Gensokyo, it is. I guess we don't know for sure, but something legitimately brutish and boyish would instead be physically fighting, I suppose, and understandably stuff like that (for instance, most of Suika's "spell cards") is criticized by Marisa. On that note, finally, although Marisa considers danmaku to be about "power", her book is often about useful variety. Plus, that aside, this is how she explains the concept to someone unfamiliar with spell cards

This is the scene. SSIB chapter 13, if you want to read it yourself. It explicitly says that they don't need to follow these rules if they don't want to, and they only bring them up to have a shot against the Watatsukis.

Yukari is pretty much the only person in Gensokyo that would have had an incentive to abide by such rules. Yukari is after all, the youkai that a) was rumored to have had a hand in the creation of Gensokyo and b) is the youkai that asked youkai to migrate to Gensokyo. This chapter speculates about Yukari's motives: http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Curiosities_of_Lotus_Asia:_Chapter_25

I just don't understand how/why Eirin, Mokou, and Kaguya lost to Reimu. They had no incentive for losing. And before you say "the main character always wins." Try telling that to the moonbitch that defeated Reimu and a few others without breaking a sweat.

I guess this image doesn't apply to Yuka, a youkai that got defeated by Reimu before the spellcard rules were enacted. Even though Reimu's victory over Yukari in the extra mode was not canon (considering the plot that followed PCB) Yukari is the only youkai that wouldn't want to defeat Reimu. Yukari had a hand in the creation of Gensokyo and went out of her way migrating youkai to Gensokyo. According to Rinnosuke, Yukari is using her powers to break down the boundaries between people in order to make people get along in Gensokyo. ZUN has yet to reveal what Yukari's true motives are. Rinnosuke also speculated it might be possible she's trying to seal up the "shrine maidens." Ex-Yukari will be the final boss of the final Touhou game. You heard it here first.

But getting back to lol powerlevels. The moonbitches are clearly the strongest. She didn't just beat Reimu and Marisa, she beat them with approximately 0.02% of her full potential. I doubt even Yukari could defeat the moonbitches. Though according to PiSS "when Ran is fighting with Yukari they are an unbeatable pair."

Yuka is one of the few youkai that lost to Reimu before the spellcard rules were put into place. That arguably makes her weaker than Remilia. Also, this panel from SSiB was the ultimate smack in the face to Yuka. It talks about why the spellcard rules were put into place. Apparently Yuka wasn't a big enough threat to Reimu to warrant its use. (Hence the reason why Reimu managed to beat Yuka without them.) Fun fact: in PoFV when Reimu encounters Yuka she says "Everything went back to normal when I defeated you back then! "

Yuka is so strong that she got beat by a human girl.

>Maybe in terms of raw power Yuka > Yukari
What? Is today opposite day or something? Since WHEN is the "ability to manipulate flowers" on par with the "ability to manipulate boundaries?" In Perfect Memento it was (blatantly) stated that Yukari was one of the few Touhous that had powers on par with the gods. If you're referring to brute strength (as in muscle) then I might agree with you.

This image is proof that Yukari is the big boss of Gensokyo. When Marisa mentioned why spellcard battles were needed in order to defeat the more powerful youkai in gensoyo, a picture of some of the deadliest youkai was shown and Yukari's face was in the background. That looks like the mark of a boss to me.
