I made a breakdown of why the translation sucked so bad using examples from the old translation, an MTL, and my attempt at a random impromptu translation. (Mine's not any good, but I was trying to demonstrate how bad the new one , which was in production longer than it took me to write mine, was.)
The issue was totally this new guy being a pretentious ass making shit up to make the script sound wordier.
I'll include the MTL, new TL and the JP text, in this post, then the old RN TL + my rushed translation in a follow up.
しゃらん、という華麗な音。/A brilliant "shakan" sound.
　否。目前に降り立った音は、真実鉄よりも重い。/　No. The sound that landed in front of me was heavier than true iron.

　　およそ華やかさとは無縁であり、纏った鎧の無骨さは凍てついた夜気そのものだ。// There is nothing glamorous about it, and the ruggedness of the armor it wears is like the frozen night air itself.
華美な響きなど有る筈がない。​ //
There can't be a gorgeous sound.

本来響いた音は鋼。​ //
The original sound is steel.
　ただ、それを鈴の音と変えるだけの美しさを、その騎士が持っていただけ。//　It was just that the knight had the beauty to turn it into the sound of a bell.
