He is not back. I just hit my head real hard against the wall for a while after actually starting to enjoy that Batller/Lion totally not gay doujin and that's what happened.

Why do so many people think Kinzo planned to kill the Italians and treat it as canon, even though it's explicitly shown that this is all Yasu's interpretation of the events and she was never there to witness it? Believing it means destroying the whole concept of the theatergoing authority (which isn't only used by will but also Battler, Lambda, Bern, Featherine and even Bernkastel in Higurashi). It also means that Kinzo has actually deluded himself to the point of completely altering his own memories, which is just absurd, and he has no reason to lie to himself anyway. It would also mean that Yasu/Clair somehow knows the objective truth about every single fact in the universe.

Why do people treat the happy Kinzo from EP8 as an obvious lie and don't even consider the possibility of it being the truth? Battler admits that the Halloween party was a fantasy he made up and everyone's personalities were exaggerated, but when it comes to KINZO alone he is adamant that this is more or less how he behaved in private with his family, back when Battler was a young kid.

>Like the Yamainu were first depicted in Onikakushi-hen, even though the reader didn't know who or what they are. But their actions in that arc don't make much sense. Why are they wasting their time harassing and terrorizing Keiichi? He's completely irrelevant to the plan to murder Rika.
Irie isn't even involved in the plan to murder Rika. He just ordered them to restrain Keiichi after receiving a call from Rena and Mion telling him that Keiichi is having some sort of unexplained nervous breakdown. Irie immediately realized he was suffering from the disease and needed to COVER IT UP and treat him secretly at all costs. The secret can't come out and the yamainu even has orders from Tokyo to erase any civilian who finds out about the disease, and Irie is aware of this. So he can't let this kid go nuts from some mysterious disease and make the news. As for the van incident, they just passed him on the road, Keiichi got spooked in his paranoia, fell on the roadside and believed they had tried to run him over.

>And to this day I still don't know if the Queen Carrier Theory was intended to be wrong or Ryukishi just fucked up. Because the events of Watanagashi-hen (and Meakashi-hen) show Rika being killed and her body hidden for well over 48 hours. And outside of Shion and Keiichi, none of Hinamizawa's residents exhibit symptoms of the syndrome. Most of them are still alive as of 2004.
It was supposed to be wrong from the very beginning. Dr. Takano had some wild fantasies and thought his research was something greater than it really was. Miyo believed every single fucking word her grandfather wrote in that article, so she was conviced that Rika's death could cause an epidemic and managed to pull some strings with the help of Koizumi to make everyone else believe it too and develop an emergency plan just in case.

The only shaky part is the very first arc, where the narration states that a year passed since Keiichi's death and at that point "something happened" that made the police pay more attention to the note he left behind. It's kind of weird that they would care about this murder case when the entire village is destroyed. You could assume Rika fucking killed herself secretly after Keiichi's double murder and she was discovered 48 hours after, disproving the theory.

But actually, it's very possible that this "thing" that happened was the disaster itself and that's why people started suspecting a conspiracy and taking another look at Keiichi's mysterious note. It would mean that R07 planned since the beginning.

The second arc is FULL of gas metaphors and references to "miasma", so R07 was clearly hinting at the disaster, ironically in the one scenario where it didn't happen. Many of the interactions with Takano during the first three arcs also have her talk about "daddies" and stuff like that during casual conversations, hinting at her father figure that is the entire motive for her actions.

>The theory being bunk could have been intentional, but for some reason it's never brought up. We're shown that Rika and Hanyuu can peer into "dead-end" kakeras and see events that took place after Rika's death. So it makes no sense that they never once bring up such an important detail. That the entire plan to gas the village is founded on misinformation.

Bernkastel is a 5th dimensional Rika that can peer into fragments of memories and observe the arcs from the perspective of each character, just like we, the readers, did. When Rika enters a new world, she forgets most of it and only retains the information that "Rika" observed herself.

The fact that Lion's world ends in tragedy suggests that the androgynous blonde Lion with a perfect life that we see in EP7 is in fact a magical character existing in a fantasy world.

Why does Lion's world still end with the Rokkenjima massacre? How the hell does it happen if there is nobody there to explain to Rudolf and Kyrie that there's a bomb to rewrite the events of that night? Why would they even do it if there is no Yasu and therefore no 2 billion credit card? They'd be blowing up the gold and get nothing out of the deal. And why can't other versions of Lion exist in worlds where the siblings don't fight each other? Why is this doomed version of Lion the only one that can be Yasu's miracle?

It all suggests to me that Lion and his/her world, as presented in EP7, is all fantasy. The reason it ends in tragedy despite it barely making sense and there are no other worlds where Lion survives... is because Lion is the dead cat.

"Lion" never existed in the real world, Natsuhi fucked him up and turned him into Yasu. His world and every possible timeline he exists in as "Lion" are all imaginary and trapped in the catbox ANYWAY. Lion's world can only end in tragedy because that's what happened IRL. He's a fantasy that gets overwritten by the reality of what actually happend on the island.

That's why Will tells Lion to "resist" and not acknowledge the fact that s/he was shot in the chest, even though it would make no sense for any other character. This version of Lion is not bound to any particular world, s/he is literally FANTASY and has the potential to ignore reality, the whole catbox shit and what happens at the end of each fragment.

Any other character, including the gameboard pieces or someone like meta-battler, has to accept the fact that they can't live past October 6, because the catbox situation ends after the second day and there is only one result: the island exploded. But Lion is different, because he's a fantasy version of Yasu existing in a perfect fantasy world where everything is perfect. He's not tied to reality and doesn't have to accept Bern's shit. He can live beyond that day and have the happy life that Yasu desired, just like all the other fantasy creatures have their own worlds and lives. He can even be of either gender, unlike the "real" Lion/Yasu.

Will says it himself near the end of EP7. Bern is trying to apply mystery logic to a fantasy world. She is trying to lock Lion's world up inside the catbox, tricking Lion into thinking he belongs there. But once he realizes the truth, he doesn't have to deal with any of that shit and can live on. At least until EP8 when all the fantasy creatures on Rokkenjima are put in danger.
