I have to add that there's intentional and unintentional chuuni though.

Chuuni can sometimes be played for comedy mostly catered to the older demographic, such as a skit mocking the things one used to do as a child/teenager/etc. and usually the humor is lost upon most younger people or "middle-schoolers"(where the etymology stems from) whom are in general more impressionable/less jaded.

Unintentional or in-your-face chuuni though, such as those promoting certain forms of exceptionalism or having deified teenagers talking sense into the adults or society in general tend to be corny or "painful" to the older demographic. A lot of chuuni also comes from the teenage power-fantasies more commonly known in the west as "hulking up", except you know, japs have a penchant for ikemen/wings/swords/dark-power what not, instead of the simple, aggressive HULK SMASH!
