Just beat fate and enjoy your life. Which is how the original Higurashi ended with Matsuribayashi.
Now 15 years later, Ryukishi is ruining that mature story by doing all kinds of lame sufferporn spinoffs.

Even the manga with their kids could have been a heartfelt story instead of whatever it was.
Show us a nostalgic melancholic feels-good Higurashi with their descendants 100 years later and Rika as an old lady interacting with Keiichi's great-grandson or something and at the end she passes of old age at the shrine while seeing the ghosts of her old friends inviting her.
