To me 20 feet or less (KC's look like they could be 15 feet or less) just seems like a good length to allow for full-body hugs while not having the human portion look utterly tiny compared to the snake portion (as in the pic you posted).

One has to keep in mind that lamias are generally depicted as substantially thicker for their length than most real world snakes, and I don't see any particular benefit to giving them a lot more coils than they can actually use to wrap around someone. Too much length just seems pointless for them.

I've heard a reasoning that lamias should have exceptionally long snake portions as a counter-balance to allow them to move with their human portion upright, but I think the sheer thickness of their body and the associated muscles would render that less important.
