while it sounds a lot like witch house it has the vaporwave エステティック. everyone knows vaporwave and witch house and all trendy online genres are 50% aesthetic and 50% what the actual music sounds like. that's how the genre expands, someone takes the vaporwave aesthetic and does something a little different with it and that opens up what vaporwave can be.

if you ask me vaporwave is pretty much just "80's to early 00's sound with a retro theme overlaid"
