Now that I think about it some more, my only experience with metal is listening to Black Sabbath/Ozzy/Dio with my dad years ago.
Modern stuff as far as I can tell is mostly focused on being fast and energetic, while the older ones used to be more heavy, and finding the right balance between heavy and energetic, is what makes a metal track good in my opinion.
I think demetori completely fucks up the "heavy" part: at safe listening volumes all the fast rhythmic noise kind of lacks gravitas, actual metal would have, and when you turn it up louder, all you hear is the drummer trying to crack open your fucking skull.
I think demetori is popular, because modern audience has ADHD.
This unironically is more metal in my opinion, than the one posted above
