China's relationship is close to as low as it can get with the west.
Once Australia and China sever most ties, and the situation deteoriates just a bit more with the US, either over HK and/or trade China will say fuck it and Invade Taiwan since they won't have much to lose at that point.
This will be the point where China calls the US's bluff about protecting it's allies, specifically South Korea and Japan.
Shit will have to fly then, because if US/The West lets it happen like they let Crimea happen, they will lose what little credibility to defend their allies they have. Which will undo over 70 years of foreign policy.
The real speculation:
It will not be a one sided curbstomp like most westerners believe. Once the initial strategic objectives of Taiwan being liberated from China are achieved (which might take months or even years), the US/allies will bomb the fuck, but not occupy, China, and then they'll be some sue for peace.
