While it is true that Dlanor isn't as extrovert as Erika, as I said, she gets really giddy once she gets immersed in a fight, her quiet demeanor and expression disappearing and becoming boisterous and passionate. Despite her violent role as an executioner, Dlanor is also very fair and caring individual. She shows a soft side towards others when she's not fighting and is deeply concerned about Erika's suffering. This combination of a contrasting dynamic, mutual care, extravagant nature when debating, while at the same time sharing a passion/job for mystery and detective work is why I think Erika and Dlanor would work so well in a spinoff. Dlanor is both seemingly cold and calculating like Erika but also brings a humane side to the duo, that contrast makes them complement each other. Even in Saku I didn't feel that Erika complemented Ange very well.

Yes, her masochism and overall submissiveness with Bern seems to be her idea of coping. But with Dlanor it appears to be actually genuine, because she says Dlanor is the only person who has actually cared for her and protected her, meaning she didn't get that from her family or ex-boyfriend, and it's especially shocking for her because of how coldly Erika had treated Dlanor before. It's where she first implies that she actually resents her master's treatment of her. Sure Erika and Dlanor got into a fight later, but the series ends with them being on good terms again and with Dlanor sending a letter to Erika begging her to come over and save her from her monotonous job.

I dunno, it just seems that with Dlanor she experienced honest to god happiness for the first time, and as both of them put it, Erika's cruelty towards others wasn't truly of her own accord but rather what she had been made to do by someone else in order to negate her own pain. That's why Dlanor felt sorry for her and wanted to protect her in the first place.

yeah, erika called her an emotionless doll and treated her like a tool, so seeing her genuinely soften up after Dlanor helped her was very heartwarming. I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff, imagine if Natsuhi and Eva managed to become close friends after one stood up for the other.

It is literally the sweetest you ever see Erika.

One more manga scene between Erika and Dlanor. This might be my favorite part for them. I really liked Erika's suggestion about making new mysteries for Dlanor to challenge after becoming the Game Master.
