Touhou is a game series of Danmaku shooters/Shoot 'em ups, ala Raiden, Gradius, and R-Type.
It has a beyond massive doujinshi (fan-creation) fanbase.
The music is considered high-quality, the gameplay is considered hectic and enjoyable (particularly the Lunatic difficulty and Extra mode), the characters are considered original and good-looking; although the series creator isn't considered a very good artist.
The entire series is made by one man, known only as ZUN.
