I believe, or rather, hope that Kanon's flashback in episode 7 had relevance.

Like, seriously. have Natsuhi, Krauss, all the parents be fooled, hell, even have George be fooled, but don't have the person who bros out with both of them be fooled.

There is a thin line between reasonable suspension of disbelief and contrived silliness, and while everyone else comes dangerously close to crossing that line, when you have Jessica not realize that Shannon and Kanon are the samefag, you've just leaped miles over it.

Unless episode 7 shows me that Jessica is as delusional as Shannon, I can't quite swallow that she wouldn't know.

There's going to be SOMETHING beyond "she didn't know", simply because a major part of Jessica's character is her friendship with Shannon and her love with Kanon.

When it comes down to it, Shkanon has always had one major problem. That is the Jessica paradox.

While you can justify the parents not knowing about Shkanon due to their own deep involvement in other affairs, and while you can make the case the servants are in on the affair(minus Gohda, poor sap), Jessica is where suspension of disbelief starts to evaporate.

There are two possibilities with Jessica and Shkanon. Either she knows, or she doesn't.

Her not knowing is completely illogical. Unlike the whole Kinzo is dead thing, which shows that Krauss went out of his way to hide Kinzo's death from Jessica using a variety of tricks for over a year, thus stretching but not quite breaking suspension of disbelief, Jessica not knowing of Shkanon destroys things established previously.

For one, Shannon and Kanon are both shown to be extremely close to Jessica. Shannon as her best friend, and Kanon as her love interest. Futhermore, they both have spent THREE years fulfilling the various roles with her. And unlike with Kinzo's death, there is nothing to indicate anyone tried to trick Jessica into "knowing" that the two were two different people. Perhaps if Kanon was a servant who was hired the week before, or if Jessica only had a close relationship with one of them, you could make the case, but as things stand, it is logically impossible for her to be ignorant of the situation barring insanity.

Which brings me to my other point. It is also impossible for Jessica to know that they are the same person. The whole time, Jessica's been portrayed as one of, if not THE, most heroic figures on the island. Altruistic, emotional, and defiant, she simply isn't the type who would not inform people on the island to as big of a game changer as Shannon and Kanon being one and the same. Perhaps if she was a mustache twirling villain, but as things stand, it really goes quite against her character to not inform people of a such a thing.
