Ran, as a kitsune, doesn't die of old age. Rather she starts losing tails every 100 years until she's down to 4, at which point she becomes a full Tenko and - litterally - goes to heaven. Flying.
As for Chen, nekomata are known to split tails at least 6 times, which would make for a life expectancy of over 700 years. So she won't even be middle aged by the time Ran goes flying.
