It's not one of those things you can imagine happening while you live with your parents, unless you happen to still be in high school.

Having roommates, unless they're WAY out of your age and peer group, will tend to bring a normalfag influence into your life. Being around other people, even if not entirely by choice, gives you a social anchor or guidepost which helps you socialize effectively with people.

Also, the prospect of being able to bring a girl home and not have to hope you can hide your parents or the embarrassment of living at home from her opens up the possibility, which makes you more confident.

And that makes you more likely to pull it off in the first place. Girls aren't as tough as you might think.

Nice girls who meet all of your insane nerd standards, well...try to think of whose standards you live up to before you get to being too picky.
