I typed the same three words in the same exact order before I read the thread. ZUN's designs are simply lovely for the reasons you've posted. I'll also add that many of them are attractive without being overtly sexualized and colorful but not garish. They're just, you know, so harmonious. ZUN is one of the few character designers I'd trust to magically redesign how I and everybody I know look.

Touhou is one of the few games that despite being "simple" represents a challenge, not to mention that it has spread too much in other media such as anime, manga or music, touhou is life, touhou is magic.
