Yeah. That's the gist of it. Skipping some details and exaggerating others, but nothing too important.

However, I can't help but find that Gou handles this drama a bit crudely for two reasons.
First is Gou's characterization of Rika. Even when facing the exciting prospect of finally escaping her fate, she would not be THIS blind to Satoko's distress. Why does she even insist on dragging her along? They both should know from Shion that St. Lucia wouldn't be a good place for Satoko, if anyone.
The second is the way Satokowashi-hen overstates Satoko's relationship to Rika and downplays all others. It started ok with the club falling apart as the kids age, but then it doesn't address Satoshi, Shion and Irie at all. Irie even seems to be their legal guardian but has zero presence... and then they even play the "oh their old house collapsed" card, like Satoko wouldn't even have a roof over her head if she could drop out of school.

I don't know, maybe I'm a fool who expects a franchise to mature as it ages. I still want to read Gou VN, that ought to develop Rika and Satoko in a way that doesn't feel so ham-fisted.
