I like how the tiny snippets of the world of Type-Moon that we're shown (outside of the events that form the plots) are relatively peaceful. People live in towns and have normal lives, and occasionally a vampire or mage takes over a countryside or two, but in general the fantastic elements are integrated softly. Lots of other modern fantasy settings start blurring the lines until things get silly. Entire continents are micromanaged behind the scenes by monsters, or corporations regularly employ wizards and everyone pretends it doesn't happen, etc. etc.
