never. do what the various guides in DJT (Daily Japanese Thread) suggest instead like bruteforcing hiragana in a week, setting up Anki, etc. that said, i'd probably watch cure dolly's Japanese from scratch videos before studying any of the popular grammar guides
>kimochi
at some point, you'll realise most of the during-sexo Japanese is really simple and rudimentary and you'll understand most of it surprisingly quickly. it's the pre-sexo dialogue and contextual plot stuff that's much trickier

>suck finding good stuff
what kinda "problems" do you feel you're having? are you overwhelmed by so much stuff coming out every week and don't know where to start? stuff doesn't always match your expectations?

>find the best movies
what appeals to one person might not appeal to you. like >>45558060, i also have an intuitive sense of what i'll be grabbing simply from parsing the upcoming releases every week. my process is:
1 - cover/title/cast -- no bueno? instantly move on; otherwise...
2 - description/tags -- see above
3 - trailer
if it passes all 3 stages, then i'll add it to my upcoming list to acquire whenever it's out
if consciously thinking about all the stuff you might possibly enjoy doesn't feel practical either, you could at least have a sense of what you DON'T like to narrow things down by process of elimination. having your go-to studios and series is a byproduct/result rather than a starting point in my opinion

with time, you'll also develop this sense

>English
Some do, some don't. Nao's got subs from JAV.guru if I remember correctly.
However, almost all will have Chinese subtitles which you can translate fairly reliably with DeepL and Google Translate in conjunction. I highly recommend using both rather than just one or the other in order to cross-check translations
the two big Chinese packs I know of are
https://mega.nz/file/3IMBDYxT#3v_pFm1zqypEVRUtbGHYVudUMK3CaUkvSUZdTWtKCKo=
https://www.mediafire.com/file/lavzm3aobfoyxhs/11500%252B_subtitles.rar/file

If you can't find a specific one in either of those and it matters that much to you, you can
1. look for a Chinese srt file on subtitlecat if it exists - if it does, skip to step 5, if not, keep going. Note: you can probably ignore the English file if there is one since it'll probably be machine translated badly anyway
2. in the absence of a separate Chinese .srt file, look for a video with hardcoded Chinese subtitles by searching the code followed by 中文字幕 and download it. as long as you're not looking for something too obscure, you'll probably find it
3. run it through videosubfinder which isolates the subtitle lines as images
4. run those through ABBYY Finereader which converts them to text through optical character recognition (OCR) technology
5. run the subtitles through DeepL and Google Translate
6. expect to make some manual adjustments to taste/fix grammar and colloquialisms, etc
7. enjoy

An alternative is through a program called Whisper that will detect the dialogue with AI tech and transcribe it. This is a relatively new development and some sirs on this general have had mixed results.

Good luck, sir!

JAVlibrary - the most widely used though outdated database/catalog with many limitations but at the same time mostly fit for purpose
>lightweight albeit dated (which i don't personally mind)
>combination search is pretty good though limited by inherent systemic limitations/flaws of JAV tagging itself
>comprehensive; often includes more obscure stuff and even uncredited works (possibly through the user-contributed corrections system)
>differentiates between studios ("maker") and (sub)labels
>comment section fairly active and typically a good source of DDL links even for older works
>very slow to update previews and releases
>names and titles often badly translated
>trailer functionality is slow and unresponsive, and often unavailable
>official screenshots are just thumbnails and don't open full size

JAVtrailers - emphasis on presenting trailers quickly and smoothly as primary focus, complemented by other basic metadata and functionality
>fastest to update previews/releases
>UI is more modern and usable
>official screenshots are resized but fit for purpose and can be opened full-size in a new tab; presented in a "carousel" format rather than having an overview of all thumbnails at the same time beforehand (nitpicking but worth pointing out)
>less comprehensive and will often miss uncredited works
>frequently clogged with "releases" that are just existing codes chopped up into many parts
>doesn't differentiate between studios and labels
>director info included but not navigable
>names and titles often badly translated and does NOT have
>comment section almost never used
>no combination search

JAV.land - a JAVlibrary clone with some technical and QOL improvements but also not too great in other areas
>series navigation!!!
>inconsistent updates but otherwise pretty fast; inconsistencies may just be for smaller studios
>simple UI very similar to JAVlibrary but slightly updated with QOL improvements: larger covers that are more comfortable to browse, etc
>official screenshots can be opened full-size, with an overview of thumbnails
>differentiates between studios and labels
>titles, names, series being extremely badly translated is the norm
>larger, higher quality images are much slower to load
>not widely used; comment section is mostly dead
>no combination search

JAVpop - primarily a repository of curated download links in a blog format coupled with generated screenshot thumbnails
>includes actual screenshot thumbnails as standard for a more accurate overview of the contents
>curated download links as standard
>"related posts" isn't a bad idea in principle but usually obvious at best or just unreliable at worst
>blog page/post format not conducive to the experience of browsing a database/catalog
>no tags besides the name and code prefix and extremely limited metadaa functionality in general (no navigation options for studios, labels, directors, etc) which accordingly impacts overall navigation
>no official screenshots

as you sirs can see, each has their strengths and weaknesses. now imagine if a database had all the positives while minimising the negatives...... we would have the definitive JAV catalog browsing experience!

Great posts, sir! i agree with all your points, especially your perspective on the JAV lifestyle and having a gf not being mutually exclusive. It just takes a bit of trust and effort to appropriately manage but if it's a healthy relationship, those things should be in abundance anyway. Repression and secrecy is definitely far unhealthier and also perpetuates the stereotype that JAV should be some kind of guilty pleasure which simply isn't necessary. It can and should be a healthy part of one's private life (making it part of your public persona would be strange) but that doesn't mean being racked with guilt and shame about it or that you need to enjoy your adult materials under the cover of darkness.

I think in this current world of partisanship and binary, polar extremes, a middle path is less marketable but I do sincerely believe in balance in all things. Finding that balance will be a different process for different individuals and certainly different couples. I'm also very fortunate to have a gf who now appreciates JAV but that wasn't always the case. For us, JAV is just another avenue of exploration that enriches rather than substitutes or harms.

>The most important foundation for a happy relationship is mutual understanding, and a desire to really understand and accept each other even for the flaws
Beautifully put, I'm unironically an avid JAV enjoyer and while it's not a defining aspect of me/my personality, feeling like I needed to shield that from my gf would be a sad dynamic to navigate and build a relationship upon.

I feel like death grip is a more serious contributor to the problems you're talking about. At a push, maybe tabbing 250 different videos on pornhub and cooming in 45 seconds anyway after treating porn like a tiktok feed. JAV encourages a slower and more mindful approach; sure, you can still do the same by scrubbing through and fapping to disjointed instances of intensity but like the other sir said, that's a problem with the enjoyer and not the medium

I also forgot to mention a bunch of other freelancers I like such as Yuu Shinoda, Yuri Oshikawa, Minami Momo etc but you get the idea anyway; the "mature woman" tag itself provides the bulk of my monthly material supplemented by a few individuals

Given the nature of JAV releases and previews generally being a month in advance, I can make an action plan of almost everything I intend to ejaculate to over the course of the next month on a week-to-week basis. Different studios have different schedules and my enjoyment of a freelancers complicates the process somewhat but I am still able to distribute titles I need to fap to in a balanced manner.
The number of my acquisitions usually hover around 15-25 releases per month; in lighter months I can also catch up on stuff that ended up on my backlog (usually from a heavier month i.e. 30+). I try to fap 2 days on, 1 day off but this is subject to fluctuations in my EQ and general energy levels. This ties into my approach of knowing what I want to fap to over the course of a week as opposed to a strict daily schedule/itinerary and having the exact fap for each day planned exactly which I think would become too strict and rigid an approach.

JAV organises itself. That's the beauty of codes. You certainly don't need to rely on any cleverness in organisation at the folder level. Windows File Explorer is too blunt and imprecise an instrument for your JAV needs.
However, you need a good way to navigate/reference/make sense of your collection.
Options include:
>third-party media center/library
Plex, Jellyfin, etc; for something adult media-specific, Stash. This will most likely be supplemented by using JAVinizer which scrapes metadata and automates a bunch of stuff for you, packages it all into something readable by most libraries.

>external database
You can think of this like a companion document/reference sheet for your collection or divorcing the functions of accessing your collection and navigating your collection. This is like how most libraries function. Books have a number on their spine that tells you where it is/should be kept but this isn't a good way to "browse" and "dig" for something unless you already know what you're looking for. Instead, you may use the library software/system to consider far more comprehensively the genres, descriptions, provenance, relevant images etc on your search. Once you've made your choice, you know exactly where you need to go to find it since the codes passively sort themselves and whatever you're looking for will be exactly where you expect. At that point, you're no longer looking for the really long convoluted title amidst a sea of other bright pictures and similarly long titles but just the code -like numbers on the spine of a library book- which in itself signals where it's supposed to be.
I've heard of people using Microsoft Access or SQL or any other dedicated databasing software. However, myself and a few others use Obsidian: originally a notetaking program that can be repurposed into a very flexible database with a few plugins. You can even have clickthrough functionality and transform it effectively into a media library and easily navigable portal into your collection but is not necessary. As for the actual folders containing the films, you can just sort them by studio, code prefix, actress, or whatever you want; it doesn't even matter as long as it's consistent with how you use the database to direct where you're going.
