Maybe the idea of them be repulsed by human food is based on the fact that some of the vampires were actually human at point before turning, and it gives some of them a reminder of their previous humanity.

Because it doesn't matter what you become if you were formally human, you're going to have a tiny trace of it in you. Unless of course you're humanity is completely thrown out, and you become a savage beast/hollow shell of what you were.
