I view the manga ryukishi writing a world where shkanon is actually true. Ryukishi doesn't seem like the kind of writer who would want to write the same story three hundred times in different mediums, and then there's the fact that he said multiple times that he would never reveal the truth, and that he only wanted "those who had thought" to reach the truth, pic related.

Lack of evidence. I think any theory is fun though and worthy of respect (Ikuko = yasu is also cool), but I don't think it's the truth.
