When there's girls whose singing/dancing isn't top-tier people complain they focus too much on looks, when there's talented girls who aren't cover girl material people complain about that too. Just how do you imagine they'd find 200 girls perfect in every aspect?

Besides that, the whole concept of AKB is "idols you can meet". They're not supposed to be perfect carbon copies of some super-star idol prototype à la SNSD, and that's what makes them interesting - their individuality, quirks and differences that make you want to cheer on them. Don't you think the group would be really boring if everyone conformed to the same traditional idol standards?
