They're completely different characters really. Kako is hotheaded yet laid-back, while Furutaka is simply gentle and protective. Try putting Furutaka as your flag for a bit, you'll see the difference between them quickly.

Kako actually talks about Furutaka more than Furutaka talks about Kako. The only time Furutaka mentions Kako is when she attacks in night battle and when she sinks.

I have Kako at level 15 or so since I don't really actively use her ever since 1-3, Aoba is also 15-ish since I just recently got her. I rarely use Kinugasa because of her art.
