Why doesn't japan have a standard alphabet instead of using kanji for every concept possible, in addition to katakana and hiragana? I know japanese is made up of only like 40 syllables (a, i, o, u, e, ka, ki, ko, ku, ke, ha, hi, ho, hu, he, etc. etc.) so why not use hiragana?

english and most other western alphabets only have 26 letters. in addition to having to learn japanese, you have to learn all the kanji to so it's double the effort. fuck that shit.
