And I'm telling you as someone who has actually done editing for youtube channels and people who run ads on youtube that thinking the ad revenue scales linearly on youtube is insane. Sub count doesn't factor into ad revenue at all, it helps with sponsorship deals more than anything. 100m+ views means the algorithm was pushing it, which meant it marked it as wide appeal, and probably put at least mid-high paying ad spots on it. Pewdiepie is a big enough name that certain companies and ad agencies mark his channel on the blacklist because they don't want to be associated with him. This also tells the algorithm that probably his content is not suitable for high paying ad spots even if they didn't blacklist him, so he automatically gets fewer of those on his channel in general. Some 1 mil sub channel with a single popular video doesn't have the kind of name recognition that pewdiepie has, they have no company with their name on a blacklist and all the system likely knows is "this video is doing well and is short and easy to recommend and has marketable keywords and the channel has no past ad blacklists, push it." Pewdiepie definitely makes bank on sponsorships, but ad revenue is an unpredictable beast that requires multiple pages to fully explain, and even then youtube themselves barley understand how their algorithm works.
