Well, it's just a guess, but Reddit, Twitter and Youtube comments are probably their main sources of feedback.
And since Takamori seems to be VERY popular over there and with JOPs too apparently?, they want to capitalize on this.
There are hundreds of Takamori artworks / stories / all that stuff too.
In the end, managers will always prioritize numbers when possible, they're still part of a corporation after all.
