What place in America is most environmentally similar to Japan? As in geography and weather, I know Japan itself ranges from colder in Hokkaido region to hotter and more tropical in the Okinawa region, but I'm mainly talking about the Kanto region since it is somewhere in the middle. I had thought that maybe the Northeast, spanning from Deleware up to New York or New England would be similar, since it is very humid in the summer but very cold and snowy in the winter, and also has many of the stereotypical japanese summer tropes such as cicadas and field alight with fireflies. But this area lacks mountains we see in Japan, so then I was thinking maybe the Bay Area in California would be similar, but it lacks the humid sub-tropical climate you would see in Japan, anyone else know anything closer then these two?

Hey /jp/, how hard would it be for a US Citizen to study abroad in Japan? How competitive are the programs to get into? I just turned 18, am a surveyor, and would really like to study abroad for a few years, I was thinking like a two year technical school, but do any of them in Japan offer programs? Also, what're the driving laws there like? Would I be able to take my motorcycle with me?
