Oh fuck, that's how it works? I knew that the expeditions were connected to the sorties from the wiki but I was having trouble understanding exactly how it worked. I thought it had something to do with recharging that red bar or something.

Yeah, spamming 400/30/600/30 for battleships or 300/30/400/300 for carriers should work, based on the wiki's data, I'm not sure that tossing in extra resources does anything to improve odds. I'm pretty sure it's just pure luck.

I had great starting luck with carriers, got Jun'you and Kaga on my first two attempts. On the other hand my first 12 battleship attempts got me just 1 BB and a bunch of duplicate heavy cruisers (at least that 1 was Mutsu)
