>Legend says that during the dark days of the Demon War, a human king desperate for allies, climbed the tallest, most dangerous peak, seeking it's denizens for aid. Though griffons preyed on humans, the human king saw that these creatures were noble, and saw in them honorable kindred spirits. He pleaded his case before them, and much to his own surprise, they accepted the alliance.

>As the Lord of the Griffons stepped down from it's roost, the human king recoiled in fear. "Honorable Lord, though grateful for your aid, it is with fear in my heart that your form will cause terror and panic to my kinsman, for we know well the shadow's cast of your hunting talon and claw."

>As if on command, the creature was enveloped in a beam of light from the heavens, it's bestial form slipping away. In it's place stood a woman, nude, but still carrying the wings, talons, and claws of it kind. "Will this form suffice?" She asked.

>Ever since that time, a tradition has been kept that every new commander of the Royal Griffon Knights, upon reciting their vows to the king, present themselves nude, just as their progenitor of old once did.
