BabyMetal is gimmicky, sure, but the real reason of their success is Kami band and Su-metal, they are the real talent in the group.

If it wasn't for them BM would be brushed off in the metal world, don't get me wrong i really like Perfume and BM, but at the end Perfume's show is a great lights spectacle with good dancers over playback music, where Babymetal is a non-stop truly live show.

Of course they didn't know Metal at that time they had 11 and Japan is all about jpop, but after 4 years they have been listening to Metal, at the least the big 4, so at this point that is not an argument to use against them.
