At least they aren't these water beetle people who name closely related species things like Eumetopus/Epimetopus/Eupotemus or Hydrascapha/Scaphydra or Torridincola/Incoltorrida so that no one can tell them apart. The more I think about it, the more I realize taxonomy should've went the way of IUPAC and left the naming business to a central council, but it's too late now. There would be a literal war if you tried to pull that off, these people like their horrible ancient codex so much that new plant species had to be described in Latin up until 2012.
