>How fast can sandworms move?
Lighting fast in sand and dry dirt. Easily upwards of 70-75mph in short bursts for capturing prey and hubby, and probably more like 35-40mph at a long, steady pace for travel

Gravel and wet sand would slow them down a bit. Mud and clay even more so. Solid stone they could barrel through but at a painstakingly slow pace.

The sandworm language is based on vibrations in the sand.

The vibrations that human male footsteps make on the sand translates to "Yes, I'd love to be eaten by a sandworm. Please, any sandworm, take me away with you!"
Running human male footsteps' vibrations translates to "OH FUCK!!!! I can't stand it anymore! Please EAT ME! BREED ME! I wanna love you for all eternity!!!!"

As you can see, this is why many sandworms hunt for their males so aggressively. When they start running, they can't help but answer their cries for love with immediate and swift action!

I've always thought of sandworms to be a very solitary species, not by choice but by their size and form. Which is why, when they obtain a husband, I like to think they're overcome with such overwhelming joy and happiness that can't be matched by anything else in life. I think this plays well into the fact that they're extremely protective of their husbands because that's their only true friend and companion in the entire world. That one man saved them from a life of loneliness and never-ending silence. They don't want to lose that, and they take every measure to protect and pamper him to the best of their abilities.

Other than that, I also headcanon that sandworms communicate via small vibrations in the sands from their movements to each other. Though I feel this is also rare since they're so large and strike me as also being territorial, not wanting another sandworm to encroach on her turf such that she doesn't lose a potential meal or mate to the other. And the overall communications this way are limited to things like "hey", "buzz off, this is my territory", "woah there, getting to close there, pal", "careful, I'm over here." And human footsteps on the sands above sound like "I really wish a sandworm would eat me right now" and running human footsteps "OH PLEASE, ANY SANDWORM! FUCK ME HARD RIGHT NOW I CAN'T STAND IT"

I love sandworms so much. I would give up everything in life to marry one.
