I can kind of understand Satoko fans who just want Satoko to go back to how she was before (even if I think it'd be a regression at this point), but people who think Lambda would be ruined by it just think it'd make all the references to Lambda/Bern's past sound smaller, since they'd be mostly Gou references rather than various references to a vague "1000 years" (well, not really, but lacking a better number) past, right? Would that really "ruin" her?

Eh, I know it causes issues with Memoirs, but I really hope Ryukishi doesn't go with "Gou Satoko was only acting like this because she was possessed/manipulated as a piece" by an external entity, especially after he didn't hint at something like that going on even in Satokowashi.

If he really goes with an already existing Lambda, I hope it's a case where something caused her to become a piece/human again and Satoko is basically that. So, there's no "possession" over Gou Satoko, she's the same as all other Satokos just facing a new personal struggle and then getting power in a way she never had before.

I wouldn't rule out Memoirs just getting repurposed into something else though. We've already seen tons of the references to Lambda/Bern's past that get new meaning if you read them under Gou's light.

Last Note of the Golden Witch is the only one actually considered a new episode, outright called Episode 9 in spite of being much shorter than the others, but there are many side-stories added in Umineko Tsubasa and then a couple more in Hane and Saku (these are mostly VN versions of texts first published in print and distributed in events).
