Ryukishi wrote them, they're canon. Are you going to say Saikoroshi isn't canon? When They Cry is built upon the foundation of Fragments. Anything is possible. Anything is canon. That includes all of the bonus material and Higurashi console arcs.

Riyu states that Battler has already forgotten their most important weapon, before asking Beato to repeat the following in red: "While the chains on the rooms were still intact, the people inside were already dead." Battler understands his point and states that while it may be true that they saw the chain locks on the rooms, they had already been cut when they arrived. For all they knew, they could have been cut ages ago. He then demands again for Beatrice to repeat: "The first three victims died before the chain was cut.", to which she refuses on both fronts. Riyu laughs at how the magic isn't real, and that they're not even closed rooms, to which Beatrice states the rooms were locked by the time Natsuhi and Genji arrived, and that the rules are identical to the previous game (which in this case is Turn). Battler states the culprit was clearly stealthy enough to steal a master key and return it. Battler asks her to repeat in red that the doors were locked in a method other than master keys. Beatrice deflects, asking them to explain the mystery of the appearing corpses, to which he responds that the corpses were in another room, and when the culprit sent them to the chapel, they had the chance to set the corpses out while they were gone. Beatrice claims they couldn't have been moved without any mess due to how bloody they were.
