Man, I can't get over how good their 3D models look sometimes. Especially Sora's since we have the previous, more primitive version for direct comparison. I find it hard to avoid wondering where this is leading to in the future. Everyone always make it a point to differentiate between their 2D and real life self. That the whole purpose of vtubers is so the girls can be themselves without worry. Kayfabe basically. We know it isn't real but that doesn't mean we can't have fun rolling with it, and all that jazz.

However, it's also an undeniable fact that there exists people out there who genuinely think the characters that these girls are roleplaying as are actually real. That Sora, Watame, Noel, etc, actually exists in the flesh somewhere inside Cover's building. I can't help but think this is perhaps a little insidious in the way it can be used to manipulate people who are either ignorant or easily swayed. It's great that we now have the tech to attempt what is basically anime in real time, but the blurred lines between reality and fiction are also equally open for exploitation.

God, I'm rambling like an old man afraid of the future. It's not like this is anything new given that vtubers are basically subsets of internet celebrities. Maybe I'm just getting that stuff mixed in with all the dystopian movies I've been watching lately.
