No, it's a fine tool for animation. It has rules and limits, but it can make things more realistic, and do them much faster than possible by hand. I was only referring to the fact that it needs space to work well(I'm not sure how much exactly).

In regards to animation, what I wanted to get across was that it does animate well and is certainly far faster than animating by hand, but you can still expect to need at least a bit of skill in animating to make it look completely natural after recording(to my perception of "natural"). For example, Kinect can't record fingers, and a motion with stiff fingers just doesn't look natural to me, so you'd need to edit that in after recording.
