What are some good, original doujinshi? R-18 is fine, but I'm especially interested if there are any doujinshi series that are just like regular manga series, except self-published.

Doujinshi aren't necessarily derivative works. People sell doujinshi with original characters and settings all the time. In fact, some of the official Touhou manga are doujinshi because they were self-published and not serialized in a magazine (I forget which ones).

Because it's cute as hell. People like old-timey clothes, people like lolis and lolita fashion, and even teenage /b/tards like scene/emo kids (at least from a visual/pornographic point of view).

It's probably the one thing I really enjoy that I'm glad is popular, without worrying it will become played-out.
