Rule for learning Japanese:

1. Have fun learning. If you are not having fun, you will burn out and die.
2. Learn every day. If you skip many days, you will get Alzheimer's and die.
3. Test what you learn. If you don't test, your wife will laugh at you, and you will cringe and die.
4. Have a specific, concrete goal. If you lack one, you will waste your years chasing an ever-fleeing ghost, and then die.

If you follow these rules, you will learn Japanese ~eventually~. Everything else is frosting on the cake.
