I'm not a huge fan so far. "Dating sim" would be exaggerated, the social link with your waifu of choice will be like 30 minutes in a 80~ hour long a game. It's more like a "social life" simulator where you spend 30-60 minutes bonding generically with like 20 different people. Romance is just a slight spice added for some of them. The problem for me is that it's VERY text light, something which would be a lengthy scene in a visual novel is like 5-10 lines of text here. It alludes to substance without really having much of it. That said, I think that's precisely why people like it so much; it carries itself as if it has deep, meaningful interactions with characters while also being so brisk and easy to read even those who hate reading won't mind going through all the text. "Style over substance" comes to mind in many ways, although that's not to say there is no substance. The JRPG gameplay in P3R is atrocious to me ("hit-the-weakness" bingo where you handle almost every single fight in the game the same way) but others seem to like it more than me so I'll put that in subjectivity city

Anyway, I think it'd be decent but not great reading practice. It's decent because it covers a huge variety of topics (e.g. all the classes in school which teach different subjects) but not great due to the low text density. The main thing you're doing won't be reading. That said, I'm actually godlike at Japanese and am just here to reference a like 8 year old DJT meme about manga not being reading (remember when we used to eat our manga?) so I might be out of touch with how slow beginners would read. Perhaps it's actually great for beginners because the scenes will be fast and so they won't feel as bad spending hours on 5-10 lines.
