I got curious and conducted a test in one of my experimental save files, just to see the exact amount of time. It turns out after just one whole day—in-game time—only the hostile monsters vanished while one this one kiwi remained. So it seems when casting summon monsters or the wild animals spells in your house, only the creatures neutral by nature will remain permanently, until you kill them.
