/jp/ - Otaku Culture

I've gone on a few "quests" and "adventures" in my life and they were rather enjoyable. Almost all of them involved me traveling to find some "otaku good" or rare hobby item or meeting a famous person in otaku culture.

Like I'd go on a search to find a rare item or travel across the country to go to some convention that an important person is going to. And then I'd meet all sorts of interesting people along the way, most by accident. And also eating in new and interesting restaurants and finding neat places to sleep in. My quests have been successful too for the most part, so it's always nice to return home with your desired item. Like a rare game or collectible or a sketch from an artist or so.

My next up journey is going to AWA to visit ZUN.

One day I shall go on a quest all the way to Japan to go to comiket and meet my favorite artists. And also to search for PC-98 Touhou games. There are also a few rare doujin works that I have been utterly unable to find online and I wish to find them before they get lost in the folds of time. But I am not yet ready for such quests and I need to continue working on my Japanese.

There is adventure out there, /jp/, you just need to go out there and find it!

If your favorite Touhou just burst into your room and shouted "I have no time to explain. You need to come with me to Gensokyo right away! Quickly gather what few essentials you need as we won't be returning! Hurry!" most if not all of us would just throw our past lives away in a second and go with them.
Just like that we would abandon our old selves with the opportunity.

I chose this socially reclusive life.
I consider myself somewhat attractive and I am pretty good in social situations. I have some distant friends and had some really close friends, but I failed to connect deeply or hobby-wise with them. So I chose to spend my time in solitude and on the internet.

Even when I was out with friends at bars and clubs and having fun, in the back of my mind, I truly wished that I was on 4chan. And so I gave up being social and haven't looked back, because this is what I truly desire. Because here, even when we don't speak face to face, we share hobbies and sometimes even connect on a deeper level. Here, I actually feel connected and can speak my mind, and most of all discuss my favorite hobbies with like-minded individuals.
So you guys are truly my best of friends.

If only we could hang out in real life, that would truly be the best. The best would be to have a small group of friends that share your hobbies and know about you, what you truly like, and how you think. Friends that are truly connected.
If only we could all live close to each other.
