Sorry, misread your question. It is possible that it does help if the animal's around red-colored plants, but like albinos I think they're very rare in wild and do not thrive as red plants/flowers are rare. Of course, if there ends up being a lot of pink plants in their habitat, they may pull off a peppered moth ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peppered_moth_evolution ) and turn all red quite fast!

Pictured is the would-be bombardier beetle lizard. Note the sand-colored tail, which disappears in contrast to the animal's bright black and white body in the desert, making it appear more beetle-like. Also note the bent back.

C is an adult, a normal-looking lizard.
