To be fair, what could she do about that? Finding a single happy fragment was already considered a miracle. She's not God, she can't fix everything. If Rika fixated too much on that she would literally go insane.

Rika says in Tsumihoroboshi that she tried to inject her friends by force to save them but it never worked out because she has the body of a frail little girl. I wonder how hard it would be to convince the non-L5 members of the club to help her immobilize and inject the paranoid one. I bet it wouldn't be that hard.

I'm afraid to get into Ciconia because from what it seems, its one of those cases a writer just wants to push his political views first and make a grandiose commentary on current geopolitical events he (probably) isn't even qualified to do.

I think the reason Gou doesn't work for me is because the cat is out of the bag. The original was interesting for its mystery and atmosphere. Remember the first arcs and being lost on what the fuck was going on? All the theories in your head, the sense of dread and uncertainty? The mix of crime thriller and supernatural? Things only get clarified on the 6th arc, and by then it's almost over already. In comparison, Gou seems to add very little to the table, it's just a rehash of the same elements. Higurashi didn't need, and didn't benefit from having a sequel.
