The Chicken stands at around seven feet in height, its weight at about seven short tons. A cursory inspection of the Chi-Ken shows it is clearly derived from the Renault FT in terms of basic design, much like other nations' early tanks, such as the Fiat 3000, M1917, and Renault Otsu (the latter most likely being the tank from which the Chicken was directly based off of, using an existing hulk left over from the second World War). Deviations include a completely different suspension utilizing two bell cranks and a frontally mounted sprocket, as well as a larger engine compartment in order to accommodate the more advanced 84 horsepower (more then twice that of the original FT) engine contained in the back. Likewise, the transmission had been completely reworked in order to support this increase in power, allowing the Chicken to move far faster then its predecessor at 48 mph on even ground (though in practice this speed was rarely achieved due to the uneven terrain of the forests it most often worked in, as well as issues in the track stability due to deficiencies related to the suspension design).
