Okay, question. Why is the graphical file manager in GNU/Linux so pokey? I'm having flashbacks to the 90's trying to use this thing. Is there any stand-alone alternative to this GNU X Windows crap? Seems to me it would be faster even just to just have that "image magic" program make thumbnails and use a localhost-only webserver and a web browser to view the local folders.
