Matsuribayashi was never a happy ending. Takano is in deep shit. Teppei is still out there. Nomura gets away with everything. Rika has to live with the knowledge that parallel worlds are real and constantly pretend none of that horrible stuff happened so she can sleep at night, but she knows her friends are fucked in all the past worlds. Satoko's crime will come back to bite her in the ass and make her suicidal, you can't just live on having killed your own parents. Satoshi will be a drugged up schizo until Irie finds a cure, so he'll wake up in his mid-20s with the mind of a teenager, a brain conditioned for paranoia even without the parasite. The police has all the evidence that Satoshi is the killer, so his life will be a mess too. And Rika's parents are dead, by Takano's hand.

Saikoroshi ended with Rika realizing that her parents loved her and she's been treating them like crap the whole time as if they didn't even exist. Maybe Gou is elaborating on this last character development of Rika's? She might have killed herself as a teenager because she feels guilty about that and is now trying to go back to save them. But she fucked up and is now stuck in the fifth year without the memory of having died on purpose.
