Saying these types of shooters do not require memorisation is a sick joke coming from a poster on this board I thought actually played this genre to a respectable level. They’re not the horizontal shooters of ages past where memorising routes through mazes is required, but good luck beating any Cave game without knowing the final stage perfectly - let alone scoring well.

Touhou Lunatic requires even more memorisation than that; it has extremely few flinch or stream-heavy sections. If anything this aspect should be acknowledged but downplayed because credits are free, and playing on Normal first lets you memorise spawn positions and gives you a rough idea of what everything is going to do.
