Not quite, what he dismisses is the unrealistic notion that your friends will always be there for you and do the life-risking things Higurashi characters do for each other. He doesn't say that talking your problems with others period isn't something you should do and it's not like your friends are the only possible receptors either, there's people whose job is to listen to others' problems after all.
